Class 64(1) A water boiler comprises a water - jacketed firebox 4 which tapers downwardly and has a door 9. a base or ashbox 11 on which the firebox stands and which has a firegrate 16 in a top opening, and a domed top 19 which has an opening with a lid 20 and a chimney 21 controlled by a damper 22, superposed on the firebox. The firebox is of sheet metal and may be octagonal, hexagonal, circular &c., in cross-section. An air-heating ring 18 with an air inlet 18A and outlets 18B is interposed between the firebox 4 and top 19, together with one or more other rings if desired. The damper may be thermostatically controlled as described in Specification 570,282.
