Abstract

716,833. Removing condensation water from sashes. WELSBY, R. H. July 15, 1953 [July 1, 1952], No. 16563/52. Class 20 (3) Means for conducting away water due to condensation from the interior surface of e.g. a window pane 8, Fig. 1, comprises a sheet metal or plastic L-section hollow duct 1 adapted to be fitted along the lower horizontal edge of a window frame 6 during glazing, condensation water running down the interior surface of the pane entering the vertical limb 2 of the duct through holes 4 therein and passing through the duct for discharge from holes 5 in the horizontal limb 3 on the outside of the window. The vertical limb 2 is preferably provided with a lip 9 to form with the adjacent interior portion of the pane 8 a trough to collect the condensation water, alternatively the upper edge of the limb may be inclined downwardly toward the pane 8. The duct may be strengthened by reinforcement, by corrugations, or by forming indentations 11. Tags 12 ho'd the pane in position in addition to putty 10. The duct may be pinned to the lower horizontal window frame member. For internal glazing, Fig. 5, where the edges of the pane 8 would normally be located against a rebate 15 by glazing bars 16 the duct member is provided instead with a depending rib 17, the lower edge of the pane 8 being cut short for bedding on the duct 1.
