Abstract

716,715. Variable-speed drives for textile spinning &c. machines. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. June 20, 1951, No. 14653/51. Addition to 716,705. Class 120(2) [Also in Group XXXVII] The apparatus for effecting a change in the driving speed of a ring spinning or like frame described in the parent Specification is modified by the provision of a further two-position switch controlled by the oscillatory movements of the building motion lever to cause the frame to be driven at the lower speed when the lever is at or near one or each of the ends of its travel. In one embodiment, the additional switch 5 is mounted on the machine frame and is operated by an adjustable double cam 6 mounted on the bush 7 of the building motion lever 1. Oscillation of the lever 1 oscillates the cam 6 and the cam may close the switch 5 at either or both ends of the travel of the building motion lever 1. In another form, a switch is mounted on the lever 1 so as to engage a cam-like member mounted on the machine frame. The motors controlled by the switch may be separate driving motors as described in Specification 716,704. A manually operable switch may be arranged in the circuit to place the further switch out of action.
