Abstract
A recording strip or tape adapted to have a trace burnt or etched therein by an electric current comprises a strip or tape of flexible and electrically non-conducting material such as paper or a thermoplastic upon which is applied, for example by vapour deposition, a layer of metal or alloy whose melting point is lower than that of pure cadmium, the layer being approximately 0.2 microns or less in thickness. Tin and a cadmium-zinc alloy containing for example 80 per cent. Cd and 20 per cent. Zn are stated to be particularly useful. Specifications 389,440, 613,222, 650,758 and 663,251 are referred to.
