Abstract
715,392. Electromagnetic relays. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and COPPIN, K. J. Sept. 25, 1952 [Sept. 26, 1951], No. 22460/51. Class 38(5) An electromagnet change over relay comprises a metallic body F with a cylindrical cavity B4 housing a metallic slide R2, a plurality of cylindrical cavities B1, B2, B3, opening into the slide cavity B4, each of the cavities B1, B2, B3 having a fixed contact arms P1, P2, P3 co-axially arranged therein with fixed contacts FC1, FC2. FC3 attached thereto, the slide R2 when operated by an electromagnet M making contact either between contacts FC2 and FC1 or between contacts FC2 and FC3, the contact members D2. C2 or D3, C3 on the slide being arranged to have springs CS2, CS3 between them respectively so that for the greater part of the slide movement the contact is resilient, only becoming positive by virtue of the members D2, D3 directly contacting the member C2, C3 respectively, at the end of the slide movement, the spring means absorbing the energy which would otherwise cause contact bounce. The slide is insulated by an insulating extension piece T, a further contact member D, D1 being arranged with a spring CS1 therebetween so that in one position of the slide the contact FC1 is earthed. The construction allows connection to be made to co-axial cables by means of co-axial connectors S1 S2, S3. The fixed contacts FC1, FC3 are made adjustable. Return movement of the armature A of the electromagnet M is effected by a spring WS.
