Abstract
715,375. Draught excluders. HOWDEN, P., and WHITAKER, E. Oct. 29, 1953 [Oct. 30, 1952], No. 27257/52. Class 20 (3) A draught excluder for doors and windows including sliding doors and partitions, comprises an inverted U-shaped housing 1 for a rod 2 which is moved longitudinally by its end, or an adjustable stud 3 carried thereby, contacting with a stationary abutment as the door closes, wedges 4, 5 on the rod 2 engaging members 7 which are pivoted at 8 and are resiliently attached by springs 11 to a lath 12 carrying the draught excluding strip 13, so that the movements of the rod 2 present the strip 13 to, or remove it from, the floor. A return spring 9 becomes operative when the pressure on the rod is released. Rod 2 may be operated from the free edge of a door by means of a hinged flap which engages a striker plate on the jamb.
