Abstract
568,368. Draught excluders for doors. ROWE, I. P. July 31, 1943, Nos. 12465/43 and 6820/44. [Class 20 (iii)] A sliding bar draught excluder for the bottom of a door has the end near the door hinge permanently in contact with the floor and is actuated by a bell-crank lever 6 connected to a, bracket 4 on the excluder strip and a sliding rod 8 connected to the bell-crank and adapted to be moved against a, spring 9 by engagement with the hinge-post of the door as the door closes. When applied to that face of the door on which the hinge lies, the bell-crank is pulled. by a spring or chain 14 connected to a plate or the like on the post, Fig. 6. The actuating mechanism may be mounted in a casing 5 provided with cover secured thereto by a nut 12 and the screwed end of bell-crank spindle. The rod 8 has an adjustable screwed sleeve and locknut 10. The mechanism may be rendered inoperative by removing the spring or other part. A plate &c. which may be adjustable may be provided on the joint for actuating the rod. The rod 8 may be bent where it engages the jamb and the bent end housed in a recess in the door and covered by a slotted plate. The draught excluder may be mounted on a backing member ready for attachment to a door.
