Abstract

276,842. Matchett & Martineau, Ltd., and Wood, J. H. V. Sept. 30, 1926. Stays for casement windows and doors comprise jointed arms 1, 2 of equal length pivotally connected at their outer ends respectively to an attachment bracket 12 and to a fixed bracket 8 so that when the window is closed the attachment pivots of the stay arms are in axial alignment whereby the arms may be turned together towards the inside of the room to lock the window, in combination with a stop 14 on the window bracket against which the arms may be moved from their locking position when it is desired to open the window. Preferably an additional stop 15 is provided to limit the opening movement of the arms. Friction discs may be provided on one or more of the pivots of the jointed arms, or the arms of the stay may be jointed together by a bolt with a clamping nut.
