Abstract
715,332. Ground anchors. AGG, C. J. Aug. 28, 1952 [Aug. 15, 1951], No. 19290/51. Class 45 A base tip for a wooden post or the like which is suitable for insertion directly into the ground, comprises a concrete member 1 pointed at its lower end, a central reinforcing bar 3 extending longitudinally through the member 1 with its lower end 2 forming the extremity of the point at the lower end of the concrete member and with its upper end 4 protruding from the top end of the concrete member so as to provide a pin on which to locate the post or like, and a plurality of resilient sumpports such as 5 protruding from the top end of the concrete member and adapted to grip the post or the like. Four resilient supports are provided, spread equally around the bar 3 and these extend into the member 1 to provide additional reinforcing rods. In a modification the pointed end of the concrete member is screw threaded and one of the resilient supports is extended into the pointed end in the form of a helical reinforcement.
