A measuring device, particularly for marking out playing fields or tennis courts comprises a series of flexible inextensible tapes or strings 1, 2 of exact lengths connected by preferably rigid rings 3 so that adjacent tapes may be colinear or inclined to each other. Tapes 1,2 may be formed of plastic with a metal filament therethrough and may be graduated. Pegs may be inserted through the rings 3 to anchor them to the ground.
