Abstract
The invention comprises pyridoxine derivatives of general formula <FORM:0715212/IV (b)/1> wherein R1 and R2 are identical or different and are methyl, ethyl or propyl, or, together with the carbon atom to which they are attached, represent a benzylidene or cyclohexylidene group, and salts thereof, and their preparation by treating pyridoxine or a salt thereof with a carbonyl compound of the type R1R2CO under dehydrating conditions, e.g. in the presence of concentrated sulphuric acid, and if desired, treating the product with alkali. Examples disclose the use of acetone and cyclohexanone as the compound R1R2CO.
