714,817. Trimming bricks &c. MAPLESDEN, R. E. Oct. 10, 1952, No. 25394/52. Class 124 A machine for cutting or trimming building blocks, bricks, and like building materials comprises a base frame 1 and 2 in which is mounted a lower transverse cutting member 11, and guides 10 between which is movable an upper cutting member 15 carrying a stem 17 with a percussion head, the cutting members having wedgeshaped cutters a fixed therein. A horizontal platform on one side of the lower cutting member for supporting the blocks may be movable so as to raise them from a position below the member 11 to a position where the block may be adjusted above the member, scales being provided on the platform for ensuring correct positioning. A spring-loaded catch 21 holds the upper cutting member 15 in a raised position, when guide plates 16 engaging a U-shaped rod 19 which passes under the movable platform automatically lift it to allow adjustment of the block.
