Abstract

Lagging for iron and steel pipes which is resistant to corrosion and attack by microorganisms consists of glass fibre and a paste comprising Portland or slag cement. The paste may also contain bitumen emulsion and an inert filler, e.g. asbestos or slate flour. Water containing a wetting agent may be used in its preparation. Preferably, the set paste should have a pH value not less than 10. The fabric may be in the form of a woven or felted sheet or bandage. The paste may be incorporated in or applied to the fabric before or after it is placed on the pipes.
