714,569. Bin-level indicators. BOZICH, M. J. Feb. 5, 1953 [Feb. 23, 1952], No. 3321/53. Class 78 (1) A bin-level indicator comprises a paddle 7 mounted on a first shaft 6 which extends into the bin, a second shaft 5. a torsional spring 10 which serves as a driving connection between the shafts and which is adapted to expand and contract through variations in driving stress that result from resistance of the material in the bin to paddle movement, a motor 2 for driving the second-named shaft and a control device that is activated through torsional changes in the spring and controls the operation of the motor and indicator. As shown, when the material in the bin rises to cover and check paddle 7, the continued rotation of shaft 5 causes spring 10 to expand to open switch 12. This stops the motor (which, in turn, may stop the further feeding of material) and operates a light indicator. Specification 660,951 is referred to.
