Abstract
714,454 Mixing liquids in proportionate quantities. ESSO AKT.-GES. April 24, 1952 [April 27, 1951], No. 10312/52. Class 86 In an apparatus for mixing petrol with a more viscous liquid such as oil, the petrol is supplied along a hose 4 to a nozzle 5 where it is mixed in predetermined proportion with a pre-blended mixture of petrol and oil of predetermined composition supplied along a hose 6. Oil from a container 7 and unblended petrol abstracted through pipes 18, 21 from the supply to the hose 4, are drawn into a pump 10 which is driven by a motor 11 to form the pre-blended mixture of oil and petrol, the composition of which is determined by a fluid-flow-meter 19 driven through an adjustable transmission 20 by a fluid-operated motor 15 on the pressure side of the pump 10. The pre-blended mixture of petrol and oil is passed to the hose 6 along a pipe 17 and is proportioned to the flow of unblended petrol by a fluid-flow-meter 2 driven through an adjustable transmission 3 by a fluid-. operated motor 1 in the unblended petrol supply line. In alternative arrangements, one or both of the meters 2, 19, may be controlled by the pump 11, or the meter 19 may be controlled bv the motor 1.
