712,734. Hay-loaders. LELY, C. VAN DER. Nov. 25, 1952 [Dec. 3, 1951], No. 29757/52. Class 6 (3) In a machine for picking up grass, hay or other material lying on the ground comprising a pick-up mechanism and a rake, the rake comprises one or more rake wheels 8. the axes of rotation of which are convergent in a forward direction, the wheels being rotated by contact with the ground. As shown, the wheels 8 are provided with teeth and are mounted on spring- urged cranks (not shown). The rake wheels draw the material towards an elevator 1 which feeds the material to a vehicle 2. The machine is attached to a tractor by means of a coupling 6. The rake wheels may be raised from the ground in known manner. The wheels may be provided on one side only of the elevator and the elevator may be situated behind the vehicle 2. The elevator may be replaced by a short conveyer which feeds material to a cutting or chopping machine which delivers material pneumatically through a tube to the vehicle.
