741,233. Step-by-step conveyers. WELGER, O., NESTLER, H., and WELGER, K., [trading as WELGER, GEB.]. Jan. 29, 1953 [Sept. 12, 1952], No. 2620/53. Addition to 707,594. Class 78(1). [Also in Group XVII] A pick-up baler as claimed in the parent Specification and wherein the conveying rake is moved over the collecting table by a crank mounted near the baling chamber has the conveying rake controlled by parallel linkage mechanism so that the rake moves parallel to itself. A rake 12, Fig. 1, having three prongs 14, 15 and 16, is reciprocated over a collecting table 9 by a crank 13 above a baling chamber 11 having a lateral feed opening 10, through which the rake feeds material to be baled and the rake 12 is controlled by parallel linkage means 21, 22, 23 so that it moves parallel to itself. The link 22 is pivotally connected at one end to an arm 24 projecting from the rake and at the other end to a carriage 21 running on the rail 26, the link 23 being pivoted to the carriage 21 and to the rake. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, the rake 12 is controlled by a link 18 pivoted at one end to the arm 24 on the rake and at the other end to an arm 17 pivoted to the machine frame and by a link 19 pivotally connecting the arm 17 and a crank return. A plurality of rakes side-by-side may be provided.
