Abstract

1292904 Baling machines INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO 10 Feb 1970 [10 Feb 1969] 6305/70 Heading B5F A pick-up baler comprises two feeder units 7, 8, which operate alternately to feed material towards a position in which the bale is formed and which are formed by horizontal fingers, the tips of which follow substantially bean-shaped horizontal paths 34, 57, and a separator 71 which in operation of the baler is moved into a position behind at least one of the feeder units when that feeder unit is a predetermined distance from the end of its feed stroke so as to prevent further material from being advanced into contact with material trailing from the feeder unit. The separator 71 comprises a fork (Fig. 4) the prongs 72 of which engage in guide members 78 fixed to the bale chamber 9. The separator is driven by the feed unit 8, being pivotally connected to a member 75 rigidly fixed to the unit 8. The fingers of the feed unit 7 are fixed to a vertical rod 21 mounted between the rims of a pair of gear-wheels 22 while the fingers of the unit 8 are connected to a crank-shaft 49. In a modification (not shown) the separator is positioned a small distance behind both feeder units.
