Abstract
993,841. Baling machines. BAMFORDS Ltd. Oct. 6, 1961 [Oct. 8, 1960], No. 34549/60. Heading B5F. A pick-up bale has reciprocating elements for feeding material into the baling chamber which elements are positively pivoted relative to a carrier, to crop feeding and withdrawn position, and one element together with part of the carrier and element control mechanism project, at the end of a feeding stroke into the baling chamber through the feeding opening. The baler, similar to that described in Specification 846,394, comprises a feeding chamber 13 with rails 15 on which a carrier, supporting the feeding elements 17, reciprocates. The carrier 16 is reciprocated by means of a rod 28, pivoted to a pin 23, mounted on a chain 24 which moves round two sprockets 25, 26, one of which is power driven. As the pin 23 moves along the path 24a of the chain 24, the feeding elements 17 are pivoted by an arm 30, link 31 and rod 33 to occupy almost vertical positions 17a to feed the crop into the chamber 10. The feeding elements 17 then swing upwards and occupy position 17b as the pin 23 traverses the path 24b. The feeding element 17, nearest the chamber 10, part of the rod 33 and the carrier 16 are projected into the chamber 10 solely through the feeding opening 11.
