Abstract

846,396. Baling-machines. BAMFORDS Ltd. Jan. 8, 1958 [Jan. 9, 1957 (2)], Nos. 800/57 and 801/57. Class 94(1). The compressing plunger of a baling press is of the kind having a cutter for severing material extending across the feed opening and is mounted on rollers adjacent its working face and on an extension appreciably to the rear thereof to resist the skewing tendency imparted to the plunger by the cutting operation. The plunger has three sections 38a, 38b, 38c, attached to a plate 38 and forming the working face 78. A pair of rollers 40 is mounted on the section 38b, and a pair 40a is carried by an extension 39 secured to the rear of the plunger. The rollers run on rails 79. The cutter 82 is secured to the section 38c to traverse the feed opening 58. The invention may be applied to the press described in Specification 846,393 The guide rails may be made adjustable as described in Specification 813,399 according to the Provisional Specifications. Specifications 846,394, 846,395 and 846,397 also are referred to.
