Abstract

712,491. Feeding sheets. POWER JACKS, Ltd. June 16, 1952 [June 14, 1951], No. 14081/51. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group XXX] Pile tables and supports.- The flow of liquid to the jack c of a hydraulically elevated platform b is controlled by a valve f and a feeler k pivoted at one end to the body of the valve f and engageable with the top article of a pile of articles to be raised so that change of level resulting from the removal of the top article actuates the valve f to change the platform level and to bring to and maintain the next top article at a predetermined level. The apparatus may be used for raising stacked sheets of material to a printing press or stitching machine and may be employed in conjunction with a loading platform of the kind described in Specification 647,817, [Group XXX]. The valve f comprises a chamber g in which is located a ball valve h and plunger i connected to the feeler k. The ball controls the flow of liquid between inlet and outlet pipes f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP> so that when the ball allows liquid to pass between the pipes a bye-pass is formed for the liquid normally effective to raise the platform b. The weight of the feeler arm k is partially counteracted by a coil spring (not shown) around the plunger i bearing at its low end on the valve structure f.
