Abstract

712,366. Filters. SUCKLING, C. March 17, 1953 [May 5, 1952], No. 11306/52. Class 46 In a race or trench provided with a grating a wheel is driven bv the flow of water and has vanes or blades for contacting the grating and removing debris from it. The blades may be flexible so as to ride over obstructions. In the modification shown the water wheel 11 is remote from the grating 10 and connected by a belt with an endless belt 18 having wipers 19 moving continuously over' the grating. Where the flow of water is sluggish pivoted guide blades 14 may be provided to reduce the effective width of the race A and thus create a faster flow. A pit located under the part of the race extending from the blades 14 to the intake pipe B may be provided to catch the heavy debris. The grating 10 may be curved.
