Abstract
PURPOSE: To render the water flow through stay vanes uniform over the entire circumference, by disposing one or more water guide vanes in a casing on the upstream side of the stay vanes.
CONSTITUTION: Two water guide vanes 8a, 8b having a curved camber line are disposed in a casing 1 on the upstream side of stay vanes 4. By the function of these guide vanes 8a, 8b arranged as above, water flow toward one wall surface in the semispiral section of the casing is increased, so that the amount of water flowing into the beginning portion 6 of the sprial is reduced. Resultantly, the velocity of water flow at the beginning portion 6 of the spiral is lowered while that at the end portion 7 of the spiral is increased. Therefore, it is enabled to make uniform the water flow through adjacent two stay vanes in a semispiral casing.
