Abstract
PURPOSE: To lower the impact force acted to a rotary drum of a water turbine and to thereby enhance durability of the water turbine, by constructing a water turbine plant from a rotary drum having many vanes extended oppositely to the turning direction of the turbine and an α-shaped guide chamber formed in the manner of surrounding the rotary drum.
CONSTITUTION: Many vanes (a) are fastened to the body (d) of a rotary drum 1 in the manner that the distance between adjacent two vanes is decreased toward the body (d) of the drum 1, and a guide chamber 2 shaped generally in an alpha form and connected with a water outlet pipe (h) and a water inlet pipe (g) extended from a dam (j) is formed in the manner of surrounding the roraty drum 1. In the above arrangement, the position where the distance between the vanes (a) and a guide chamber wall (k) is smallest, i.e., the position where the width of a water passage (e) is smallest is located slightly downstream of the position judt under the drum 1, and a first weir (b) is formed stepwise on the inner surface of the chamber wall (k) on the upstream side of the smallest-width portion of the passage (e). With such an arrangement, water discharged downward from the dam (j) is made to flow into vane pipes (l from its bottom and turns the drum 1 by pushing the vanes (a) forward.
