Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a hydraulic machine, in which recesses having a shape conforming to the passage for reversing circulation flow of water are formed in the vicinity of the water-flow diverting portion of the seal arranged in a hollow space that is formed between the runner and the casing, so as to reduce the amount of water leaked through the seal, whereby it is enabled to improve efficiency of the hydraulic machine.
CONSTITUTION: In a hydaulic machine such as hydraulic pump turbine of this invention, a first arcuate recess 30 and a second arcuate recess 31 having a shape conforming to the passage for reversing the circulation flow 20 of water are formed in the vicinity water-flow diverting portion 35 in the surface of upper cover 5 in back-pressure chamber 6 which is formed between the runner and the casing of hydraulic machine. By the function of these recesses 30, 31, speed of circulation flow 20 is increased at the portion 35, so that development of turbulence 36 is promoted and resistance against water flow 21 through portion 35 is increased. Therefore, it is enabled to remarkably reduce the amount of water leaked through chamber 6 and to improve efficiency of the hydraulic pump turbine.
