Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the main shaft seal water pressure without installing a drainage pipe in the upper part of the top cover which is installed on the back surface of the first stage runner, by forming a drainage hole inside the main shaft equipped with a runner, in a multistage pump water wheel etc.
CONSTITUTION: Inside the main shaft 15 which is equipped with the first and the second runners 2 and 3, a drainage hole 17 is formed which communicates the space 6 between a main shaft seal water apparatus 9 and the first runner 2 attaching area to the opening 16 at the end of the shaft. As the first runner 2 and the second runner 3 revolves with the main shaft 15, water is pumped up from a draft tube 14 to a casing 4 through a return guide 12. At this time, the water in the space 6 is highly pressurized, but the excessive water is drained from the drainage hole 17, so the water pressure in the space 16 can be reduced. Therefore, the water pressure in the vicinity of the apparatus 9 can be reduced, and water sealing effect can be still developed sufficiently, and complicated piping in the neighborhood of the upper surface of the top cover 7 can be omitted.
