[Also in Group XXIII] In a copy-planing or milling machine of the kind in which the movement and inclination of a feeler 27, Fig. 2, with respect to the profile of a flat pattern 6 are transmitted to a tool 28 by a pantograph 18 ... 21 and a parallel motion 29, 30, respectively, the pattern 6 and the work-table 2 are connected for simultaneous reciprocation in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the feeler which has an oblique operative surface, Fig. 6, to cause a similar oblique surface to be formed on the edge of the work. The pattern is secured to a carrier 10 reciprocated on a fixed vertical guide 5 by a lever 8, Fig. 8, connected by a link 13, a double-throw crank 12 and an adjustable link 15 provided with two ball joints 14 to the table 2. The pantograph is supported by a link 17 pivotally connected to a projection 16 while the tool is pivoted on a vertical axis for angular movement in sympathy with the tracer and is supported by two pivoted links 22, 23.
