[Class 60] [Also in Groups XXII and XXVI] Relates to a profiling machine comprising a grinding wheel 23 rotatable about an axis 26 fixed relative to a base structure 20, a rock-frame 27 mounted to rock about a parallel fixed axis 28, a work-holder 24 mounted in the frame to rotate about a parallel axis 25, a profile cam 31 in the frame to rotate about an axis 32 parallel to, but not coaxial with, the aforesaid axes and co-operating with a follower 33 causing the work-holder to move to-and-from the wheel 23, means to move the work-holder in traverse relative to the wheel 23 in accordance with the relative movement in traverse between the cam and follower, and means for driving the work-holder and cam synchronously. In such a machine, means, 59, 61, are provided for driving both the cam and follower differentially in traverse relative to the base structure 20 so that the movements are in a preselected ratio. The machine described is identical with that of Specification 625,816.
