Abstract

711,421. Winches. MAVOR & COULSON. Ltd., and MAVOR, J. B. Jan. 29, 1951 [Aug. 31, 1949], No. 22578/49. Class 78 (5) Thedrum 23 of the haulage gear of a mining machine, e.g. a coal cutter, is rotated continuously at slow speed by a hydraulic motor comprising a series of cylinders 10, the pistons 12 of which act on a swash-plate 14. This plate has a universal mounting 16 on the motor shaft 8 and is engaged by fins 18 on the casing to prevent rotation. The plate bears on an inclined thrust plate 20 which is keyed to the shaft 8. A gear 24 fast on the shaft engages a ring gear 25 on the interior of the drum. The upper end 7 of the shaft 8 drives a rotary distributer valve 6 which supplies the cylinders in succession with the high-pressure liquid delivered by the variable delivery pump 5.
