Abstract
1458459 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines BALCKE-DURR AG 4 Sept 1974 38593/74 Heading F1F A motor, or self-priming pump, comprises a spherical chamber 1, Fig. 1, with frusto-conical inserts 2, 3 and an axial bore 7 which supports a shaft 10, Fig. 3 on which is fixed a spherical member 11. The latter supports a disc-shaped piston 13 in a groove 12 which is inclined to the axis at an angle other than 90 degrees. The piston 13, Fig. 4, has a groove 17 in a cylindrical member 14 and in operation the groove 17 engages a fixed plate 6, Fig. 1, which projects into the chamber 1. When the shaft 10 is rotated, the piston is prevented from rotating by the plate 6 but it oscillates about the shaft 10. Thus, with suitable posting the machine acts as a pump. By supplying pressure fluid it can be driven in either direction as a motor.
