Classes 120(2) and 120(3) In apparatus for detecting and correcting, irregularities of thickness of a textile .sliver of the type in which a sliver passes through a drafting unit controlled by movement of a relay comprising a train. of axially-movable parallel rods 16 slidably mounted about the periphery of the hub 13 of a carrier-wheel which is rotated so that the rods move along a path at right angles to their axes and which are actuated by a setting element so that they project beyond a datum position by an amount which is proportional to the instantaneous thickness of the sliver so as to displace a transmitting element which governs a drafting correction, the wheel comprises a sleeve 18 of such a diameter that the inner surfaces of the projecting ends of the rods bear against the peripheral surface of the sleeve. Movement of the rods is limited by flanges 20, 21. Reference has been directed by the :Comptroller to Specification 656,135.
