Abstract

607,666. Yarn feeding mechanism. TRIGGS, W. W. (Kidde and Co., Inc., W.). Feb. 15, 1946, No. 4773. [Class 120(ii)] A strand feeding mechanism comprising two wheels which are mounted for rotation about intersecting axes and have conical, mutually contacting surfaces, is characterized in that one wheel, e.g. the wheel 4, is made with its conical surface substantially more resilient, e.g. by facing with smooth chrome leather &c., than the conical surface of the wheel 2, which is, e.g. of smooth steel, cast iron &c. The wheel 4 is preferably the drive wheel of the pair, and may be provided with a doctor blade 20 to free its porous surface from foreign substances. Yarn-tension actuated guide means may be provided to control the feeding point of the yarns between the conical wheels 2, 4. Specification 585.087 is referred to.
