Abstract

The invention comprises trisazo dyestuffs corresponding as free acids to the general formula:- <FORM:0710808/IV(c)/1> wherein A-N=N-B-N=N- represents the radical of a diazotized aminomonoazo dyestuff which contains at least one sulphonic acid group and in which A and B belong to the benzene series. They may p be obtained by coupling a diazotized aminomonoazo dyestuff of the benzene series containing at least one sulphonic acid group with 2-(4\sv aminobenzoylamino)-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid, further diazotizing the resulting aminodisazo dyestuff and coupling with 2-amino-5-naphthol-1 : 7-disulphonic acid. The products yield on cotton and regenerated cellulose fibres red to blue-violet dyeings which can be diazotized on the fibre and developed with b -napthol to bluish red to reddish blue shades. In examples, the aminomonoazo dyestuff A-N=N-B-NH2 is: (1) to (3) 1-amino-2 : 4-dimethylbenzene-6-sulphonic acid --> 1-amino-2-methoxy-5-methylbenzene, 1-amino-2:5-dimethylbenzene or 1-amino-2 : 5-dimethoxybenzene; (4) metanilic acid --> m-toluidine.
