Abstract
710,648. Cathode materials and processing. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 4, 1952 [April 12, 1951], No. 8487/51. Class 39(1) A thermionic cathode has a nickel support at least the surface of which is at least 99.98 per cent purity, the oxide coating containing a reducing agent e.g. 1 per cent by weight of zirconium hydride. The cathode may be directly or indirectly heated and the support may consist of a core or sleeve made of electrolytic nickel having less than 0.016 per cent impurities or of standard nickel, the surface of which is purified by electrolytic polishing or by firing at 900‹C in wet hydrogen.
