Abstract
Thiadiazole sulphonamides are prepared by reacting the corresponding thiadiazole disulphides with chlorine in an aqueous acid solution and subsequently reacting the sulphonyl chlorides thus obtained with ammonia. The thiadiazole may be substituted in the nucleus, e.g. with an hydroxyl, amino or acylamino group. The temperature during the chlorination is preferably maintained at - 10 DEG to 25 DEG C. An example is given of the preparation of 2-acetylamino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-5-sulphonamide from bis-(2-acetylamino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-5,51)-disulphide.
