710,207. Jet or rocket propelled boats. FRANCAIS, E. March 4, 1952 [March 5, 1951], No. 5667/52. Class 114 A boat is propelled by one or more jet engines 2 or by rockets which are mounted so as to be capable of swinging as a whole in relation to the boat about a horizontal pivot 4 whereby the thrust may be maintained horizontal. The jet engine is elevated by a handwheel 5 and it may also be rotated about a substantially vertical pivot for steering the boat. The centroid of the jet is disposed aft of the vertical pivot to assist the trimming of the boat during its turning.
