Abstract
709,633. Belt pulleys. STAHLECKER GES. W. Dec. 20, 1950 [Feb. 24, 1949], No. 30992/50. Class 80 (1) [Also in Group XXXIV] A unilaterally-supported gudde or tension pulley, particularly for the tape drives of textile spindles, has a bearing housing 1 integral with a disc 6 which is secured to a carrier 2 by two screws engaging a ring 7 integral with or secured to, the housing. The housing may be of plastic material or of cast or pressed metal. A cap 10 is bolted to the housing and is provided with an opening, closed by a spring-loaded disc. for lubrication. In modifications lubrication is effected through a nipple or from a reservoir integral with the housing. In an arrangement, Fig. 8 (not shown), employing plain bearings lubricating passages are formed in the spindle, and the latter has a flanged bush to limit the axial play of the pulley. The carrier 2 may be bowed before being bolted to the housing, and the housing may be provided with part annular projections on the face thereof as supporting surfaces. In a further modification. Fig. 9, studs 3a, 4a secure a bearing cap 1a and the housing 1 to the carrier 2. The bearing is closed by a resilient disc 21 which may lift to allow escape of excess lubricant. For lightly loaded pulleys one plain bearing and one ball race, Fig. 16 (not shown) may be' provided, the balls being retained by an outer race of pressed spring metal which when worn in one part may be turned through 180 degrees to prolong its life.
