Abstract
708,327. Mast supports. MOORE CORPORATION, L. C. April 22, 1952 [Jan. 9, 1952], No. 10086/52. Class 78 (4) In an oil well derrick having a base B, a gin pole A mounted thereon, a mast C with the front legs pivotally connected at 4 to the base and the back legs 12 having their lower ends disposed above the gin pole, tension members 17 are connected to the upper part of the gin pole, and to members 15 on the mast by removable pins 16, 18 which extend through slots and holes in the members, and wedges 23 spacing the lower ends of the back legs of the mast as far from the top of the gin pole as the pin and slots allow, are movable laterally to permit the mast to tilt backwards to loosen the pins in the slots so that they can easily be removed. The gin pole has legs 1 and 2 pivoted to the base at 4 and 3 and pivoted together at the top of 9 to allow the rear leg 2 to swing adjacent the front leg. The links 17 are pivoted to plates 7 on the gin pole. To take up any slack produced by play in the slots, a screw threaded pin 22 is rotated to move the wedge 23 between bearings 27 and 29.
