Abstract

651,175. Scaffolding. SPROUL, J. J. D. Aug. 28, 1948, No. 22727. [Class 20(ii)] Chimney scaffolding is clamped to the chimney by pairs of shoes 5 mounted on a pair of bars 1, 2. One shoe on each bar is fixed in position by a pin in a hole and the shoe on the other side of the chimney by toggle levers acting between a slide carrying the shoe and a slide 9 fixed on the bar. All the shoes 5 may be operated on by toggle or screw and nut-mechanism. Support frames 19, engaging the ends of the bars 1 and comprising angle and channel irons, straddle the roof in the case of a chimney on the roof ridge and are connected to one another by pins in holes 24. Modifications are shown for chimneys on the slope of the roof and at the end of the ridge.
