707,329. Compound sheet materials. SVENSKA CELLULOSA AKTIEBOLAGET. Feb. 29, 1952 [March 3, 1951], No. 5367/52. Class 140 Wood flooring boards having a thin surface layer or veneer of expensive or ornamental wood are provided with a protective covering layer consisting of a transparent thermoplastic foil secured by thermoplastic adhesive, and may then be tongued and grooved. The transparent foil may be of polyvinyl chloride. The adhesive may be a powder or thin adhesive film of vinyl chlorideacetate copolymer, and may be preceded by a priming coat consisting of an emulsion, suspension, or solution of a polyvinyl ester. A thermosetting resin such as urea- or melamineformaldehyde may be added to the primer or adhesive, and hardened when the assembly is united by hot-pressing.
