Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an adhesive which excels in initial bond strength and final bond strength and is useful for the bonding of plywood, ceiling board, wall material, flooring for building materials composed mainly of wood, by a method wherein an emulsion of a vinyl acetate resin is mixed with polysoprene rubber latex.
CONSTITUTION: (i) 100pts.wt. (on a resin basis) of an emulsion of a vinyl acetate resin (e.g. vinyl acetate homopolymer) is mixed with (ii) 1W1,000pts.wt. (on a rubber basis) of polyisoprene rubber latex (e.g. natural rubber latex, synthetic polyisoprene rubber latex) to obtain an adhesive (A). The surfaces of wood, etc. to be bonded are cleanly wiped, and the adhesive (A) is coated on the surfaces in an amount of 100W300g of the adhesive per m2 of the surfaces to be bonded by means of brush coating, roller coating, hand coating, etc. The adhesive surfaces are laminated to each other to bond them.
EFFECT: As the adhesive has high initial bond strength, the bonding can be effected only by laminating the adhesive surfaces to each other. Working such as clamping, temporary setting is not necessary.
