707,170. Disc brakes. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and BUTLER, H. J. July 30, 1952 [Aug. 11, 1951], No. 18948/51. Class 103(1) In a wheel and disc brake assembly for aircraft, the discs 1 are rigidly secured to the wheel hub 4 by means of equi-spaced bearing members 3 which extend axially from lugs 8 rigid with the hub structure. The axially spaced discs 1 are secured to one end of the members 3 by seam welding the peripheries of the discs to a cylindrical member 2 itself secured by welding or pegging to the members 3. The other ends of the members are tightly secured by rods 10 and wing nuts 11 on one face of the wheel hub. This form of assembly provides a cheaper construction than the usual splining of the brake discs on the wheel hub. In a modification the inner periphery of the discs 1 may instead be welded to the cylindrical member 2 by which they are connected and secured to the wheel hub. Specification 677,248 is referred to.
