Abstract

707,012. Pressure gauges; indicating-apparatus. BRITISH OXYGEN CO., Ltd., and PRIDMORE, R. W. Dec. 5, 1952 [Dec. 21, 1951], No. 30003/51. Classes 106 (2) and 106 (4) A pressure gauge comprises a pressure-responsive member 1, a cylinder 25 mounted for axial rotation and having on its periphery a helical line the pitch of which is substantially equat to the cylinder length, means for causing movement of the member 1 to rotate the cylinder 25 and a scale adjacent to and parallel with the axis of the cylinder, the intersection of the helical line and the scale indicating the pressure being measured. As shown, the gauge is housed in a casing having a horizontal slot 27 in one face 9 thereof, the cylinder 25 being visible through the slot 27 and the scale being marked along one edge of the slot. A second pressure-responsive member 2 causing a pointer 35 to move over the face 9 may also be included. The pressureresponsive element operating the cylinder 25 and the pressure-responsive element operating the pointer 35 may be adapted respectively to measure the inlet and outlet pressures of a pressure-reducing valve. The members 1 and 2 may be Bourbon tubes.
