Class 78(1) Fuel delivery means for mechanical stokers having a travelling grate comprises means for delivering fuel to dividing means 20 which deliver substantially similar streams of fuel to shoots 40, the outlets of which are spaced along a hopper 55 extending transversely of the grate and having an elongated outlet through which fuel is fed to the grate, the shoots 40 discharging towards distributers 65 which spread the fuel laterally so as to produce even distribution of fuel on the grate. In a modification, two fuels having different characteristics may be fed from separate sources to separate dividing means to a common hopper.
