706,050. Disc brakes. GIRLING, Ltd. Oct. 28, 1952 [Oct. 6, 1951], No. 23325/51. Class 103(1) In vehicle disc brakes the fixed housing for mounting the actuator cylinders 14 comprises a beam 15 of U-section which is reinforced against separation of the limbs by members 17 of horseshoe outline. The members 17 are located at each end of the housing and preferably between adjacent actuator cylinders. The cylinders 14 may be secured to the beam 15 by providing angularly spaced tongues 20 on an inner flange 19 which on rotation of the cylinder after it has passed through the bores in the member 15, lock it in place. In Fig. 3, the invention is shown applied to a brake in which the disc 30 is mounted at its outer periphery. In Fig. 4, the U-shaped beam is fabricated from an L-shaped member 35, 37, an arcuate plate 40 and flange 39 welded or brazed together. Other forms of construction are also described..
