Abstract

705,798. Centrifugal fans. SCHLUMBOHM, P. May 9, 1952 [May 10, 1951], No. 11818/52. Class 110 (1) A fan comprises two discs 10, 14 of porous paper-like material mounted on a common hub 1, the air centrifugally displaced by the rotation of the discs being constantly replaced by air drawn with a filtering action through the material of the discs. On rotation, the partial vacuum created between the discs draws them together at their peripheries so that they each assume a frustro-conical shape. The formation of eddies which would cause fluttering of the edges of ure discs is prevented by a stabilizer 12. The diameter of the stabilizer is preferably equal to that of the discs, but may be greater or smaller. The discs and stabilizer, together with spacers 11, 13 (which are preferably of cork) are clamped in place by means of a flange 9 screwed onto the hub shaft 7. The fan may be provided with a casing.
