Class 83 (2) In a modification of the process of the parent Specification, the peripheral side wall of an unfinished valve core, shaped as shown by the line 1, is thickened by welding on a deposit of corrosion resistant material indicated at 2 and is then forged between dies 3 and 4 whereby deformation of the cone begins at the thickened portion and any displaced material is shifted towards the annular edge of the cone. The contour of the forged valve is shown by the line 7 and of the corrosion resistant material by the area 6 extending to a portion 8. Line 5 represents the contour of the finished valve, the parts outside the line having been removed.
