Abstract
704,737. Powder metallurgy. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 18, 1952 [Nov. 21, 1951], No. 29108/52. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XL(a)] An X-ray tube anode comprising a tungsten target disc embedded in a molybdenum carrier is made by forming the carrier from molybdenum powder, moulded and sintered with the target disc in situ. The operation is carried out in a moulding cylinder ; the powder is soaked with 5 gms. of paraffin per kg. of powder, compressed and heated, first in wet hydrogen at 1300‹ C. for one hour, and then in dry hydrogen at 2100‹ C. for 15 minutes.
