Abstract
692,731. Batteries. YARDENY INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. Dec. 6, 1950 [July 15, 1950], No. 29915/50. Class 53. One of the electrodes of a battery consists of sintered silver -and may be in the form of a grid 11 the openings in which are filled with the sintered silver 14, or as shown in Fig. 4 the electrode may consist of a plate of sintered silver 114 in which is embedded a conductor 111. The electrode shown in Fig. 1 may be made by placing the grid 11 on a ceramic support 15, Fig. 3, and filling the openings in the grid with finely-divided silver 14<SP>1</SP> and compressing it by a plunger 16. The support, grid and plunger are then placed in an oven at 650‹ to 800‹ C. till the silver is sintered. The electrodes may be used with electrodes of compressed zinc oxide wrapped in paper envelopes, adjacent electrodes being separated by regenerated cellulose as described in Specification 682,164.
