Abstract

704,349. Magnetic amplifiers. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKAAKTIEBOLAGET. March 15, 1951 [March 22, 1950], No. 6241/51. Class 40 (4) In a transductor in which auto-excitation is established by parallel-connected main windings 2 and half-wave rectifiers 6, the controlling D.C. voltage 7 is applied directly to the main windings so that the use of a separate control winding is avoided. The controlling voltage may be adjusted by a potentiometer 9, Fig. 5, which also controls the degree of self-excitation by virtue of its shunt connection across the rectifiers. The potentiometer may be remotely controlled and a D.C. bias opposing the self-excitation may be established by an additional winding 10. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 4, the effective controlling voltage is determined by the difference between a rectified A.C. reference potential 71 and the rectified potential across the load 3. In a further arrangement, Fig. 6, a standing bias in the main windings is supplied over a rectifier from an A.C. source 11.
